Concept development for Boroondara Council

A series of cyanotypes created for Boroondara Councils 2018 Arts Program. The cyanotypes respond to Wurundjeri word ‘Boroondara’, which translates in English to ‘where the ground is thickly shaded’.

Within this photographic process I serve to unpick the ideas of the the title prompt, where photographic paper acts in part as a ‘surface’ or ‘ground’ for discarded foliage. Collected material is site specific to the council region and comprises both native and introduced plants; recognising that modern day Boroondara is comprised of species belonging to both, and the process of creating the imagery an intervention of itself.
